From Brassy to Classy

Posted by Vanessa in DIY Projects, November 5, 2010

It’s been awhile since we posted about any of our house projects so I thought I’d give you a little glimpse into our in-progress dining room.  I love this one.  Love it, love it, love it.  I’m not sure if it’s because the light fixture was $2 plus a can of spray paint and new light bulbs and the thought of how awesome a deal it was makes me so happy, or if I just think it’s absolutely adorable.  Maybe both.

Originally I had wanted this above my bathtub, but we desperately needed light in our dining room, so I said okay because we use that room at least 3 or 4 times a day and I might take a bath twice a week.  And that’s a big might.  And after more thought, I think it’s perfect right where it is.  A smaller chandelier would be better in the bathroom anyways, so that’s what I’m on the hunt for now.  More brassy goodness that I can totally conquer with a can of spray paint and some cute light bulbs.  I think I might even go with a bright color in the bathroom, but we’ll just have to wait and see…

So here’s what we started with:

And here’s what’s currently lighting our dining table:

Isn’t it purty?  Oh, how I’ve so quickly fallen in love with spray paint.

LOVE IT! Okay…so now I think I’m inspired to do the same to our hideously gold and brassy chandelier. I love white fixtures. White is just fresh and clean. Plus it makes everything look bigger.

  2. Wow Vanessa! And for just $2!!!! That is crazy! I love it 🙂 The light bulbs are super cute!

Thanks, girls! Lisa, you should definitely give it a try on your light fixture. It’s amazing the difference paint color makes!
