One-Ingredient Ice Cream

Posted by Vanessa in Cooking, June 18, 2010

Yep.  You read that right.  This ice cream can be made with only one ingredient.

Bananas.

Who would have known what kind of texture a frozen banana will take on?  Not me.  Definitely not me.  But I don’t give much thought to bananas.

Except how to get their stains out of my clothes.

In all seriousness though, how fun would this be to serve to your kids for breakfast?  Mine loved it, and really thought they were getting a super special treat.  You can even drop in a spoonful of Nutella or peanut butter while you’re mixing it up in the food processor for extra flavor.

This will probably be my last recipe containing bananas for quite some time, maybe even forever, so I hope you banana-lovers enjoy.  I need to go back to food I’ll actually eat.

Over and out.

Details
  • Prep Time: 15 minutes.
  • Ready in 15 Minutes.
  • Makes: 2 Servings
Ingredients
  • 3 very ripe bananas (brown spots on the outside are good, but you do not want them to be brown on the inside too)
Directions
  • Peel and slice bananas into small pieces. Put into a freezer-safe container and freeze until frozen solid.
  • Put frozen banana slices in a food processor and process until they are all ground up and no large chunks remain. Now, they will look a little grainy, and not at all like ice cream, but give them a stir with a spatula and they transform into...banana ice cream! It really is pretty cool.
  • Spoon into serving dishes and eat immediately.
