Happy Birthday The Red Bird Life!
Pure craziness. I can hardly believe I’ve been blogging for a year now. Writing as a hobby. Are you kidding me?
138 posts in 365 days. That’s a lot of really yummy food, friends.
Most popular recipe : Airman Anderson’s Chicken
Most popular dessert: Strawberry and Chocolate Jiggle-Fluff Pie
My favorite part of writing this blog : It’s basically become my personal cookbook. I have a mini-laptop and I just use it as my recipe card in the kitchen while I’m cooking away. When I need ideas, I come here. I so hope it’s helpful to others too, but even if it isn’t, I get so much use out of this website, so much more than just an afternoon hobby. All my favorite recipes, all in one place.
And, you might have noticed that the look of the website changed today.
It’s all The Phoenix’s doing. See, we’ve decided to become DIYers, and we thought the best place to blog about our new endeavors was right here. We’ll be moving into a new house in a few weeks, what we like to call the first place we’ll live that we intend to make our home. A place that’s not temporary, somewhere we actually hope to be for quite some time. A place to raise our kids. Start and continue our family traditions. Mark our kids’ height on the doorway. You know, all the stuff that makes a house a home.
And in all this home-building, we want to create. We want to put our personal touch on everything. Get in there and get our hands dirty. Learn how to be a little more handy. Make stuff ourselves to make it totally us, instead of just shopping in a store for something someone else designed. (And hopefully saving a whole bunch of money too.)
So I’ll still be continuing to do what I do. Try tons of new recipes, and post all our favorites right here for you to try too (and for me to make again and again). And on top of that, The Phoenix and I will be showing you our DIY projects. So, yes, he’ll be doing some of the writing you’ll see here, which will be quite the treat for you.
What I like about adding a new dimension to The Red Bird Life, is taking advantage of the name that The Phoenix gave it last December. He wanted me to be able to expand and blog about more than just food, if I wanted to someday, and now that day is here. So the “Life” part of the name, makes so much more sense now. Isn’t that swell?
So, happy blogiversary, ol’ blog! I think we’ll be celebrating with fried chicken. Yum. Hope you enjoy our new adventure here on The Red Bird Life!
